Aindrea's Pay it Forward

Part 1:

Paying it forward is when one person does a simple act of kindness for three people. The people that received the act of kindness will then pay it forward by doing an act of kindness for three other people and so on. A chain of people doing an act of kindness begins.

Part 2:

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

My act of kindness was giving toys and candy to kids that go to my church.

Why did you choose this activity? 

I chose to do this act because my church is something very close to my heart (as cheesy as that sounds) I wanted to give something to my church but I didn't know what. My mom gave me the idea of giving toys and candy to the little kids after their lesson.  

Who did you help?

I made the kids happier since they never expected anything after their lesson, so the treats and gifts became their reward for that day's lesson.

When did you do you act of kindness?

We bought the toys on January 4th and also wrapped them up on the 4th. I gave them to the kids on January 5th.

Part 3:

How did your act of kindness go?

My act of kindness went well. It was really fun and it made both the kids and myself smile.

What Happened?

My mom asked their teacher if I could hand out my treats and gifts for the kids and I waited for them to finish what they were doing at the time. I then came in to their room and explained to them why I was giving them gifts. I finished by handing out the gifts and candy. The candy was surprisingly shared throughout the whole church. (Even our pastor was eating candy.)

How did you feel?

I felt quite happy since the kids were smiling more than usual and the adults were walking around with gummy worms in their mouths. It was really funny to watch.

How did the person or people react?

The kids were kind confused since Christmas already passed and I was giving them presents, but after I explained they played with their toys and ate candy. Their teacher asked why I was doing such a random thing and I explained why. After I finished explaining she looked like she liked the idea of "paying it forward".

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?

I actually forgot to tell them to "Pay it Forward" so after their class when they were waiting for the church service to finish, I went up to them and asked them to "Pay it Forward"

How did they react to your request?

Some of the kids said "What does that mean again?" and I explained to them what it meant. Others smiled and agreed.

Part 4:

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?

It is important because one simple act of kindness becomes one big change. Paying it forward is different because you aren't doing a nice gesture because you have to, but because you want to. After someone has paid it forward they didn't force others to do it but simply said "Pay it forward." It's an easy thing to follow, so the ripple effect moves quite quickly. 

Has your act of kindness made a difference?

All my act of kindness did was made little kids aware of Pay it Forward and put smiles on their faces. Some may count that as making a difference while others don't. To me it is because now they'll have the idea of paying it forward even though they're still young. 

Joyce's Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward 2014

Part 1:
Pay it forward is when someone you do an act of kindness towards specifically three people. You can help people just by helping them (opening the door for someone, donate toys to hospitals etc.). It's also when a person chooses to change the world just by helping people. The person they helped doesn't repay them but goes and helps someone else instead.

Part 2:

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
The pay it forward act of kindness I did was writing letters to the employees in a hospital. The hospital that I went to was Health Science Centre - Children's Hospital. I wrote on how hard they work on to take care of the kids that are checked in the hospital.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose this activity because I wanted to thank the employees and nurse for their hard work towards the kids in the hospital. Also because I want the nurses to start a great new year

Who did you help?
I helped the employees/nurses in the Children's Hospital.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did the act of kindness in January 4, 2014 with five of my friends Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Marla Mae and Tiana.

Part 3:

How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went better than I thought. I actually really enjoyed visiting the Children's Hospital.

What happened?
We went to the third floor of the Children's Hospital since they said that the other floors were closed. Once we arrived to the third floor, we went to the lady at the desk and told her that we have toys to donate and letters to give to the employees. She was completely surprised since we had lots of things with us and letters. We told her about the "Pay It Forward" project that we were doing and what it meant. She called the other employees to take a picture with us. She was definitely thankful towards us and asked us for the schools address so that they can send a letter thanking us for our donation.

How did you feel?
Honestly, I felt really stressed. When I found out that I couldn't bring old toys to the hospital, I got even more stress. So, that's when I decided to make cards for the employees instead. I didn't really make enough for all the employees in the hospital since I ran out of paper. Once I got to the hospital and gave them by cards, my stress was relieved. I felt calm and happy that time.

How did the person or people react?
The employees were grateful and thankful towards my group. When I realized that they were happy about it, I became really happy.

Did you ask the people or person to "Pay It Forward"?
Yes we did. We explained what "Pay It Forward" was and they said that they will pay it forward.

How did they react to your request?
They're reaction looked like they were really happy and grateful. They even said that they will pay it forward. They also said that they would send us a letter afterwards.

Part 4:

Why is the idea of "Pay It Forward" important?
I think the idea of "Pay It Forward" is important because it can change a persons life and change the world. Once the person's life has changed, they can decide to do an act of kindness towards another person.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
In my opinion, I kind of think it did. I think this because it can actually make a difference towards the kids and the employees. With the letters we gave to the nurses and the toys we gave to the kids, I think it can make a difference towards their lives. It may not be that different to the kids but I know that they're happy with the toys we gave them. Also, I'm very proud of my group for doing this even if not all of us can join in. I'm proud of myself and my group since I think that we did something really good.

Jalen's Pay It Forward

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward"
"Pay it Forward" means to do  a random act of kindness to a person or to people. This means trying to help them do something and the person you help could help another person thus is what causes a ripple effect. When you do your act of kindness you have to say to "Pay it Forward".  This is the kind of thing to make someone smile and male their day.

Part 2
What was your Pay it Forward act of kindness?
My pay it forward act of kindness was for me to shovel my cousins house but since I live next door to my cousins house I decided to shovel both houses twice for my pay it forward.


Why did you choose this activity?
I chose this activity because people don't like to go outside because it's to cold so I figured it would be smart for me to shovel for other
                                                            people to make their day.                  


Who did you help?
I decided to help my cousins and my own family by shoveling their houses, example  passageways,backyards and garage entrance and stairs.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on December 29th and January 3rd because before January 3rd it snowed really hard and I wanted to shovel a lot more than I did on December 29th.



Part 3
How did your act of kindness go and what happend ?
My act of kindness went smoothly as it can be there was only a couple of times I had to have breaks because it was to cold.. I started from the backyard so we could be able to walk to the garage. After that i shoveled the garage entrances when it was all done I went to the front yard and I shoveled the walkways. Then I ended it off by shoveling the stairs.

How did you feel?
I felt very responsible and proud of myself when I finished shoveling the houses. It made me take huge step in responsibility. Now I know how people feel when they do something nice to other people, it is a great feeling to have inside.

How did the person react?
My mom was thankful that I shoveled outside for them because she knows it's really cold outside. For my cousins they don't know that i shoveled for them because i didn't tell them.

Did you tell the person to "Pay It Forward"? And how did they react to the request?
Yes I did ask my mom to Pay it Forward and she gladly said she would try to pay it forward for someone else. Right after I told her this she asked if there was a due date for pay it forward, and I said no, just do it when you.

If you didn't ask the person to "Pay it Forward, How come?
I didn't ask them to pay it forward because I didn't want to disturb them because they might have been doing something else important. Also I wanted them to think of who did this for them and why. Hopefully this would make them think to help somebody.



Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward", important?
I think the idea of pay it forward is really important because it's trying to make a difference in the world. Pay it forward is trying to help people or a person and that person or people have to try and help another person. This is what causes a ripple effect and the number of people will increase every single time. This is why I think Pay it Forward us important.

Has your act made a difference?
I think mine made a difference because after I shoveled my mom told me that I am going to shovel when my dad is working, but it made a difference for me because it made me think of how much we have and how much people don't have. This is an idea to make someone else smile. Another difference that I made was saving peoples time. Instead of shoveling they could do something else instead. So yes I think my act of kindness made a difference.

Marla Mae's Pay It Forward

Welcome To My Pay It Forward Project 2014

Part 1.

What is "Pay It Forward"?

Pay it forward is where you have to do an act of kindness to three people or at least one. The act of kindness you do to that person could be a simple thing like holding a door for them or even making a change in their life. After you pay it forward to that person, that same person now has to also pay it forward to three or at least one person and they do an act of kindness that can make an impact in that persons life, this then goes on and on. It changes the world and how we look at one another. The image below shows a diagram of how pay it forward works.

Part 2.

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

My Pay It Forward act of kindness was that I purchased some new toys and then brought them to the Children's Hospital and donate them. I also went there with my group(Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Joyce, and Tiana from 8-16) Some of us also made and wrote letters to the workers at the Children's Hospital and thanked them. We also explained to them what pay it forward was and asked them to Pay It Forward.



Why did you choose this activity?

Technically we chose to do this activity because we wanted the children in the Children's Hospital to start off the new year with some new things. We also wanted the children to know that more than just their family are there for them. We also chose to do this activity because we also wanted to show our appreciation to the workers at the Children's Hospital for their hard work, and to remind them that their jobs are important for watching over children's lives and helping them get better.

Who did you help?

My group and I didn't really help the children in the hospital, we technically just payed it forward to them with new things for the new year. We gave them toys so they could play with them in their room instead of just laying in bed worrying about what's going to happen to them. The toys were for them to enjoy and keep their mind off things that they're worrying about and to just have fun with their new toys. We also kind of helped the workers there to remind them that their jobs are very important and that we're really thankful to have them working there.

What did you do?

What I did was donate new toys to children at the Children Hospital with five of my friends. (Corinne, Alieha, Rose May, Joyce, and Tiana)

When did you do your act of kindness?

I did my act of kindness on Saturday, January 4th, 2013.

Paying It Forward at the Children's Hospital

Part 3.

How did your act of kindness go?

I think that my act of kindness went pretty good. We got to give the kids at the hospital new toys and show our appreciation to the workers that worked at the Children's Hospital. It was actually better than what my group and I expected because we weren't very prepared and organized when we planned our act of kindness. But overall we had a good time.

What happened?

What happened was we successfully donated the toys to the Children's Hospital. But I'll talk about the whole thing that happened when we were there. Most parts of the Children's Hospital were close but luckily some floors were open. So when we got to one of the floors and looked for a desk to see if we could donate the toys to the kids who were on that one floor. When we got to the desk, there was a kind lady and told us that we couldn't give the new toys to the children in person but that they would be glad to give it for us, which was good enough. The lady at the desk was also very surprised and over whelmed. We then took pictures of us paying it forward with the lady at the desk and some of the nurses that were free to take the picture with us.

How did you feel?

Doing this pay it forward project made me feel pretty proud of myself for accomplishing this project. Just seeing the smile on their faces shows that my group and I did a good deed. It made me want to do something like this again but next time something bigger and better. I also realized that little things like this will usually catch peoples attention and want to also do something similar, like what you did for them, which is paying it forward. This project overall was a great experience.

How did the person or people react?

The lady at the desk was very surprised and thankful for what we were doing. Other nurses and workers came closer to us to see what was going on. The lady at the desk then explained to the nurses that about us donating toys. Then the other nurses were also saying how they were glad that a group of young students like us were doing good deeds around the city.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?

Yes, we did explain what pay it forward was to the lady at the desk. It was later then explained to some of the other workers there.

How did they react to your request?

The lady at the desk was happy with our request and was glad to pay it forward. I'm pretty sure the other nurses were also going to pay it forward too. They were really thankful for what we did. I'm also pretty sure they are sending a thank-you letter to our school.

Part 4.

Why is the idea "Pay It Forward" important?

I think that the idea of "Pay It Forward" is actually very important because the way it works is pretty simple and people actually pay it forward everyday, some people just don't realize that they're paying it forward. But paying it forward is important because in the end we're all helping one another, either just in our community or even internationally. Being kind and doing pay it forward will bring all of us closer together and be able to work together. Pay it forward will change how we look at the world and how we look at each other.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?

I think that my group and I maybe made a difference emotionally to the kids and workers at the hospital. I don't think I really made a difference to the kids but I know I did something good and enjoyed doing it. As I said in one of my answers, I do want to do something like this again, but next time something bigger and better. So I think that my act of kindness didn't really make a difference but did effect more than a few people. All I I know is that I'm proud for what my group and I did.

Manipal's Pay it Forward

         Pay it Forward is a concept where a person performs a act of kindness to another or a group of people and that they do the same to another person or group of people and the process repeats.          


          My Pay it Forward act of kindness was volunteering at the Gurudwara (Temple) and helping set up plates for Lungar (food for all). I chose this as my Pay it Forward act of kindness because I believe in the Sikh religion which is based on equality which is what Lungar represents food for all, no matter what age, gender, social status or religion. I helped the people who were at the Gurudwara who listened to the entire service. I first set up the plates and spoons and I placed the cups and tissues and finally severed water( I do not have a picture of that unfortunately.). I did this act of kindness during Sunday morning on Dec.29 2013.

             
                   I think my act of kindness went well because I helped set up the plates and utensils pretty quick. I helped set up the plates and utensils and after everyone was seated I helped serve water. I unfortunately did not ask anybody about Pay it Forward because It slipped my mind. I appologise for forgetting to ask anybody about Pay it Forward.

            I feel the concept of Pay it Forward is important because  its a simple concept in which a person does a an act of kindness to another and they repeat and it is a small way of making the world a better place. I feel like this may have made some people happy because I chose to help at the Gurudwara, though it may not help a lot, it may make some people thankful for things they can do easily.







 

Kris Gail's "Pay it Forward"

Part 1
Pay it Forward  is when you commit an act of kindness to at least 3 people or more. These acts of kindness could be really simple by just  donating money and clothing to those ones that needing them, or  by volunteering to community service, Winnipeg Harvest, etc. In return you could ask the people you help to do an act of kindness to 3 different people that the might know or not, by doing an act of kindness the other may follow your guide and do the same.

Part 2
My Pay it Forward kindness was volunteering on doing lighting crew at, and baby sitting one of my family friends kid.

I choose these activities because my parents told me that their friends are needing someone to watch their kids while their at work, and I really like kids and I know even thought its a small act it still can make  someones life easier.

I helped my mom's childhood friend to baby sit her baby while shes at work.

I change her diapers, put her in bed and etc. I baby sit for 3 days 

I did my act(s) of kindness on December 25-27, 2013.

Nina's Pay it Forward

PART ONE
Pay it Forward is the process in which you commit small acts of kindness towards others. Those people must understand the meaning behind your act to be able to keep the kindness going. They will choose to be nice to others, just like you have done to them, and it will make an impact on the world. By committing your small act, others will also follow your guide and do the same. The kindness will keep spreading all because of that one person, YOU.

PART TWO
My Pay it Forward act of kindness was donating my family's old clothes that they no longer use to the Salvation Army Thrift Store, and to some people who happened to be outside the Siloam Mission building.

I chose this activity because I asked my parents what possible things I could do for this project beforehand and they told me that I should donate to help those of the less fortunate. I decided to donate something that people who aren't as lucky as us don't have. I knew that they would need it, especially in this weather.

I helped some people who happened to be outside the Siloam Mission building.

I offered some clothes to people to keep them warm from the snowy, cold weather and I gave them some if they accepted it.

I did my act(s) of kindness on December 27, 2013.

PART THREE
My act(s) of kindness went pretty good in my opinion.

At the Salvation Army, I asked the lady working there if she would accept my donation of clothing there. She told me that they were more than welcome to be taken in, and she thanked me for them.
At Siloam Mission, a couple of strangers accepted my offer of clothing. I allowed them to look into the several clothing bags I had and to take what they wanted. One man only took one shirt, while the rest took more. I asked him if he wanted to take more, and he told me that he was thankful for what he had and that he knew that others were in need of clothing too.

I felt proud of myself for helping those of the less fortunate. They reminded me to be thankful for what I already have, instead of wanting more, and that I should stop taking things for granted. I should think of others before myself if I ever want more than what I actually need.

The lady at the Salvation Army seemed impressed that a person at such a young age, such as myself, chose to bring in a donation. The people that I met outside of Siloam Mission were happy about receiving clothes, even if they looked worn out.

Yes, I've asked all the people I've met that day to Pay it Forward.

Some of them ignored my request but that's okay because the rest told me that they'd try their best to do so. One man at the Salvation Army overheard my request that I discussed with the lady, and he asked me if it was a school project and if I watched the movie. I stayed there for a while talking to the lady and man, discussing the whole Pay it Forward project to them.

PART FOUR
The idea of Pay it Forward is important because it teaches others that at least a small act of kindness can make a big difference in the world. It encourages people to do nice things for others, just like others have done to them.

My act of kindness might have made a difference. I am unaware of the whereabouts of the clothing my family once had, but it may be with people who were once in need of a new pair of clothing.
